Email encryption helps protect sensitive information that you send outside our organisation from being read by anyone other than the intended recipient. Encrypting an email ensures that even if the message is intercepted or misdirected, its contents remain secure and confidential. This is especially important for maintaining compliance with privacy regulations and meeting the requirements of some local authorities.
With the Barracuda Email Protection add-in for Outlook, encrypting outbound emails is simple and available to everyone. No installation or configuration is required.
When you’re composing a new email, just click the blue Barracuda icon in the menu ribbon and toggle encryption "on" in the sidebar before sending. The system automatically handles the encryption in the background, and the recipient receives a secure message they can easily access through Barracuda’s secure email portal.
If you're familiar with Egress, this service works in a similar way, but is available to all staff at no additional cost.
