National Induction Sessions

These sessions will take place in your first few weeks:

Day 1 - IT check in	Delivered 1-2-1 with IT team member	A call on Slack to check your laptop is set-up and working and that you can log onto slack
HR check in	People and Culture Team	A call on Slack to check we have all the correct documentation, give a brief intro to induction and probation and answer any questions you may have
Database induction	Delivered in a group with IT team member	A group call on zoom. An overview of the database – what is available here: FST/RAC: Helpdesk Article CVT: Helpdesk Article For national staff it is bespoke to their role
Introduction to Safe Families and Home for Good	Delivered by your SLT Lead	What is Safe Families and Home for Good and where are we now?
Health and Safety Welcome	Local Office Lead	An introduction to Health and Safety in your local office and some direction about what to do in case of an emergency.

Finance induction	Ian Maith (Financial Controller)	A group session via zoom. Topics covered include: Payroll Pension Mileage and expenses YuLife App Purchase order process
Safeguarding Practice and our approach to Family Support (Family Support Team only)	Claudia Bell  (Director of Safeguarding and Quality Assurance)	A group session via zoom. Topics covered include: Outline of the legislative framework and statutory guidance that our support sits within Fundamental principles of safeguarding and how these inform the way we work with other agencies to keep children and families safe and improve their well-being. Practical overview of the 4Rs of safeguarding and how to share information well. Our approach to Family Support. How we seek to deliver value based, trauma-informed, relational practice. Including some practical advice and guidance on how to do that well and with reference to our Quality Standards.
Communications and Fundraising	Communication and Fundraising Team	This is a group session on zoom and is split to look at 3 areas: Communications . Influence  Fundraising
Church Engagement Induction by Director of Church Partnerships (Community Volunteer Team/ Engagement Team Only)	Martin Dickson (Director of Church Relationships)	A group session via zoom. Topics covered include: Timeline of approach to working with churches Motivation and our Hope for the UK Church. The Church Relationship Strategy : How the CRS informs our practice (aka Top Tips for Relating to Churches) including brief introduction to the 4ET tool and Church Champions.
Vision and Values	Kat Osborn (Chief Exec), Tarn Bright (Chief Exec), Claudia Bell (Director of Safeguarding and Quality Assurance), Martin Dickson (Director of Church Relationships)	A group session via zoom. Topics covered include: Vision - Our vision for families, the church and volunteers. Our Values (the process of developing them and our values into actions)
Trauma Informed Support	Fiona Eve and team (Therapeutic Parenting Coach)	The group training via zoom will explore the different kinds of trauma children may experience and the impact this has on their brain development and consequently their behaviour. It will explain parenting strategies that can be used for children who have experienced developmental trauma and detail specific ways in which volunteers can support families. It will also explore the impact of caring for challenging children on parents and carers’ mental health and well-being.
Secondary trauma	Fiona Eve and team (Therapeutic Parenting Coach)	This group session will take place via zoom. Secondary trauma is when you encounter someone else experiencing trauma and feel the deep impact of their distress. This training is designed to support all staff, in recognition that most of us encounter trauma through our roles. It will help you to recognise the impact of trauma, how to avoid secondary trauma, and gives practical strategies for how to treat it if it does happen.
Unconscious Bias	Kat Osborn (CEO), Sarah Bhatoe (SCVM), Karen Mbayo (CVM)	We want to be an inclusive and diverse workplace that ensures belonging for all. In order to create that, we all need to know about, and be able to recognise, unconscious bias in ourselves and those around us. It’s only when we identify it that we can then do something about it. This is an essential part of creating a safe working place where everyone feels they can belong.
Volunteer Training Modules 1, 2 and 3	Various Safe Families and Home for Good staff	These are the modules we cover with volunteers but it is a great idea for new staff members to attend the training as soon as possible to understand how we work and what volunteers get to know.
Introduction to Reporting	Various Business Support Team members.	An introduction to local authority reporting.
