The group training via zoom will explore the different kinds of trauma children may experience and the impact this has on their brain development and consequently their behaviour. It will explain parenting strategies that can be used for children who have experienced developmental trauma and detail specific ways in which volunteers can support families. It will also explore the impact of caring for challenging children on parents and carers’ mental health and well-being.

Secondary trauma
Fiona Eve and team (Therapeutic Parenting Coach)
This group session will take place via zoom. Secondary trauma is when you encounter someone else experiencing trauma and feel the deep impact of their distress. This training is designed to support all staff, in recognition that most of us encounter trauma through our roles. It will help you to recognise the impact of trauma, how to avoid secondary trauma, and gives practical strategies for how to treat it if it does happen. |
Unconscious Bias
Kat Osborn (CEO), Sarah Bhatoe (SCVM), Karen Mbayo (CVM) |
We want to be an inclusive and diverse workplace that ensures belonging for all. In order to create that, we all need to know about, and be able to recognise, unconscious bias in ourselves and those around us. It’s only when we identify it that we can then do something about it. This is an essential part of creating a safe working place where everyone feels they can belong.
