What is an Assignment:
An assignment is a way of recording the relationship and nature of support between a referred family and a volunteer.
There are two types of direct support a volunteer can provide to a family; befriending and host assignments.
- Befriending Assignments:
- Befriending assignments relate to a single volunteer supporting a family.
- Each befriending assignment covers the length of support between the family and a specific volunteer.
If multiple volunteers from a single volunteer household are involved in supporting a family, an assignment will be required for each of them.
- Host Assignments:
- Automatically recorded against all approved host friends within the volunteer household.
- Each hosting assignment records a single instance of the volunteer(s) hosting one or more member(s) of the the referred family.
For regular/recurring hosting, a separate assignment will need to be added for each instance of support.
Assignment Statuses:
Assignment statuses are used to quickly establish the progress and current state of each assignment:
- Draft:
- New assignments that have not yet been posted or assigned to a volunteer will show as draft.
- Posted:
- When a support request is posted out, the status will update to posted.
A note will also be added to the family record to show an overview of the email that was sent and to how many people.
- Pending:
- When a volunteer has been assigned but the start date has yet to be reached and therefore support has not yet begun, the status will update to pending.
- Active:
- When a volunteer has been assigned and the start date of the assignment has been reached, the status will update to active.
- Closed:
- When an assignment is closed, the status will update to reflect the selected closure reason.
For more information on closure reasons, see Closing an Assignment.
