Over the past few months, the Community Volunteer Team (historically Safe Families) and the Engagement Team (historically Home for Good) have been going through a reshaping exercise. This has now come to a close. There have been new roles formed and a number of staff have (or will have from 1 April) new job titles and responsibilities. We have updated our Safe Families and Home for Good dictionary so that you can get used to the new roles and abbreviations.
Our latest all staff meeting took place on Tuesday 11 March. It was great to be together and to launch the new vision and mission statements. If you didn't make the call, it's really important that you catch up on it. You can do that here.
We also really encourage you to get signed up for Staff Conference. Registration closes on 31 March so be quick! Here's the information you need to sign up and this is the link to the frequently asked questions.
Annual Leave
From 1 April we will enter the new annual leave year. This means that your allowance will be updated. Any leave that you have not used (equal to a working week or less) will be carried over into this new leave year (this happens automatically). You will also notice that annual leave will now be calculated in hours to help with members of staff who don't always work a full day at 7.5 hours a day. If you have any questions, or your leave seems incorrect, please do raise a ticket. Please note that on Monday 31 March you will not be able to access the database to book any leave. This is to enable the Systems team complete the changes.
As you know we have been trialing a flexi-time working pattern and some changes to TOIL. We are now nearing the end of the trial and we would really value your feedback around how this has gone for you. We will continue to operate flexible working until the review is complete and will share any changes if and when needed. With that in mind, we would love it if you were able to complete this short survey (it is likely to take less than 10 minutes) so that we can collate feedback. The survey closes on 9th April.
Following some legislation updates, we have introduced a Neonatal Care policy which gives additional time off, and pay, to members of staff whose baby is in neonatal care within the first 28 days of their lives. You can take a look at it here.
Our lovely fundraising team have pulled together a fantastic update about all the things that have been happening over the past six months. Please be sure to check it out here.
We have created a new and separate policy outlining how we approach concern or allegations in relation to staff and volunteers. This policy guidance exists to enable a smooth, robust and effective process in the event of a safeguarding concern, allegation or disclosure being made against a volunteer or member of staff. Whilst such allegations are rare, it is important that we deal with any concerns consistently and in a timely manner, with openness and transparency. A flow chart has been created to enable all of those involved in managing a concern or allegation to do this well, however if in doubt, you are encouraged in the first instance to speak to the Head of Family Support in your region who is also your local Safeguarding Lead.
If you have any questions about anything shared in Staff Matters or anything else people and culture related you can raise a ticket here.
