Here is some guidance around absence that occurs during annual leave:
- If annual leave has been booked and illness occurs the annual leave can be re-credited if the staff member lets the line manager know on the first day of illness and a medical certificate is produced to cover the days of illness, irrespective of the length of absence. The line manager needs to start an absence record and let People and Culture know. The cost of any certificate will be covered by the employee.
- If an employee is on sick leave, they can still take annual leave – this should be booked two weeks in advance. Please inform People and Culture if this is the case to ensure payment is correctly issued.
- Employees on long term sick will continue to accrue annual leave – they will be able to carry over 4 weeks (20 days) pro-rated for part-time employees.
