Once matched to a volunteer the assignment status will automatically be updated to Pending.
Pending to Active:
A Pending assignment will automatically be updated to Active once the start date of the assignment has been reached.
The system runs a check to update Pending assignment to Active every 15 minutes, so don't panic if this doesn't update immediately.
The Day Before:
An email will be sent to the Case Manager for each Pending assignment, the day before it is due to start.
If that assignment is still planned to go ahead on that date then no further action is required.
If the assignment has been delayed for any reason then the assignment start date will need to be updated to reflect the current expected start date. For guidance on how to change the expected start date of an assignment, see Check Start Date section of Recording a Volunteer Link Up.
The system runs a check to update assignments marked as Active back to Pending every 15 minutes, so don't panic if this doesn't update immediately.
No Longer Required:
If the assignment is no longer going ahead, it will need to be closed. For guidance on closing an assignment, see Closing an Assignment.
Once an Assignment is Active:
Individual assignments will remain Active until the end of a volunteer's involvement.
For host assignments, each individual assignment should be closed upon completion and if additional host support is planned, a new assignment should be created to represent the next scheduled support. See Repeating a Host Family Assignment for more information on this.
