The final sections of the Volunteer Assessment are crucial as they cover areas which enable us to form our analysis of the suitability of the volunteer.
The Biographical Summary section covers:
- Names
- Jobs
- Children and other household members
- Church they attend (if applicable)
- FF/HH/FF with at-home-care
- Rough location, range of locations willing to work in
- Availability
- Animals
- Hosting preferences
- HSC – any actions to be checked, anything coming up which may affect availability.
The Suitability Summary (Assessor opinion on suitability) is where the CVM should express their opinions and recommendations based upon on the assessment. The Suitability Summary should include:
- Motivations, personality, personal qualities.
- Relevant skills/experiences.
- Evidence they can build rapport/relate to families.
- The volunteer’s own resilience through personal social networks and coping strategies for stress.
- Anything they would be particularly suited to.
- Anything we need to avoid when allocating cases to the volunteer, i.e., looking at trauma/challenges and difficulties.
- Anything we need to be aware of that needs reemphasising to the volunteer.
- The CVM’s overall recommendation/caveats for the volunteer.
