There are some more types of leave (other than annual leave and parental leave) that team members may be able to take at certain points as an employee. These are available to support and care for team members when things outside of work need their focus. For more information about the types of leave, and when they would be applied, go to this article.
Within all these other types of leave the team member must contact you as their line manager (where possible in advance) to confirm what type of leave it will be and for how long.
Where it's not possible to do this in advance, it may also not be appropriate in the initial conversation to discuss what 'type of leave' this will be (e.g. if there is an emergency situation). The message we want to give the team member in an emergency is to 'take the day' and we can talk tomorrow about what we do going forward.
To record this leave:
1. Start a new absence record on the staff database
2. Use the drop-down to record the 'type' of absence and write in the comment box any information regarding the leave. Then select 'start absence record.'
