If annual leave has been booked and illness occurs the annual leave can be re-credited if the staff member lets the line manager know on the first day of illness and a medical certificate is produced to cover the days of illness, irrespective of the length on absence. If an employee is on sick leave they can still take annual leave – this should be booked two weeks in advance. Please inform Ian if this is the case in order to ensure payment is correctly issued.
Employees on long term sick will continue to accrue annual leave – they are entitled to carry over 20 days (pro-rata’d for part-time employees)
