The CVT have an important role to play in helping to match a volunteer to a family. CVMs generally have a good knowledge of the skills/availability of a volunteer, having completed the Volunteer Assessment and taken the volunteer through the approval process. This can be crucial in helping to match a volunteer to a family needing support.
- Matching of volunteers happens at weekly matching meetings but can be necessary at other times subject to need (for example an emergency hosting).
- Matching is based on various factors such as location, role, age, availability, but also on the suitability of the volunteer to the support required. The CVM should use their knowledge to try and help make this the best match possible with volunteers available.
- CVMs should be available to work together with the FST to match volunteers to families and to follow up that discussion by contacting the volunteers to see if they are available and willing to volunteer.
- Matching meeting notes and actions should be recorded under the ‘Assignment Matching’ menu for each family awaiting support.
- Prior to their family introduction, volunteer should be reminded to refresh themselves of their role by reviewing the Volunteer Handbook.
