Annual Reviews
As we approach annual review time we wanted to share with you information about what you can expected and what is expected of you as a line manager. Perhaps you have done many of these before, perhaps this is the first time you have led on one, well, here is a link to everything you need to know as well as some helpful video training.
Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
It's been about a year since we rolled out some new processes around DSE (Display Screen Equipment). It is super important that we can work comfortably and safely in our roles and putting a DSE assessment in place has been a huge help to us in this and has enabled us to ensure that each of our physical and emotional working needs are met and identified any adjustments necessary that need to be made. We are really appreciative of the time that has been taken from line managers to complete the DSE online training and assessments with staff and for all of you for partaking in the assessments themselves, so a big thank you to you! We would love it if you could check out the DSE Line Manager Guidance in Zendesk which highlights what to do when completing a DSE assessments with a team member.
We are looking to start notifications for DSE assessments in the near future. This will mean that as a line manager you will receive a notification when a DSE assessment is outstanding. We hope this will help us to keep track of when our team members are needing an assessment and build an effective process around DSE. We will be in touch with you when these notifications go live!
Inductions and One to Ones
Following some of the changes around structure (in particular with the Church and Community Relationships Team, CRT and the Engagement and Support Team, EST) we have updated some of our information around inductions. This includes some updates to some of the paperwork that is used for induction records and one to ones. You can take a look at this updated information here and here. We have also created an interim one to one form specifically for CRT and EST to use whilst we work on more specific forms for the roles.
Mileage and Expenses update
Over the last 9 months there has been a working group looking at our practices as an organisation regarding office / home working. They have sought feedback and established some principles to home / office working (which were shared previously). These recognise that connection and relationship are highly valued and we want to work with our teams from a position of trust and flexibility. Flowing from these principles we have updated our mileage policy and are proposing, for some team members, a change of contract type; so that our contracts reflect the reality of our day to day. We have also done some work on simplifying mileage claims. Much more information, a helpful video and some next steps for you as managers can be found here.
Reminders
Please be sure to read Staff Matters for all and particularly highlight to those you manage the feedback around the conference and the staff survey coming up next week.
Thank you so much for all you do.
