Staff Conference
Our staff conference is next week, please be sure to speak to those you manage about their arrangements to get to conference. It would also be a good idea for you to speak with those in your team about their feelings around attending. We know that for some people it may feel quite daunting arriving to a room of 200 people. If you want some top tips or ideas on how to help those you manage, do get in touch. Please also be mindful to be available for any new starters that haven't been to an in-person event as yet and look out for them on arrival.
Updating your profile
Please can you make sure that you and your team have checked that their personal contact details and emergency contacts are up to date on the staff database.
Annual Leave and Bank Holidays
The annual leave system has now been updated! Hooray! Just a couple of things for you to clock as a manager...
- Remember that your team must book annual leave for any bank holidays that fall on their normal working day and they won't be in. Staff can request to work on a bank holiday but they must be able to tell you what things they will be doing on those days and get that signed off.
- Don't forget about the mandatory closure dates over Christmas and ensure your teams book those. This year the dates are 25 December to 1 January (inclusive)
Inductions and Training
A reminder that when a new person joins your team they will be given an induction record. On this there is a list of all the training that the new person should take part in including both national and role specific sessions. More information about inductions and the national training can be found here. At the moment, we are unable to track who has attended which sessions so please do check in with your team members and ask them to make sure that they have attended all the training they need to. It is also important that they have completed all the sessions by the time they get to their probationary review so please do make sure that this is spoken about in that meeting too.
We are also in sign-off stage on some interim paperwork to be used for the new CRT and EST teams and we will share these with you as new team members start.
People Change Requests
If you carry out interviews and appoint someone, please do be sure to complete a 'People Change Request' form on the database so that we can make sure we have all the relevant information for job offer letters and contracts. Instructions on how to access this can be found here.
One to One - Initial Support Agreement
If you have recently started managing someone who you didn't manager before (this could be a new starter or someone who has changed positions), you will need to complete an initial support agreement with them. The reason we do this is to make sure that we can be best equipped to support our team members and so that we can make sure any reasonable adjustments are made if required. This should be done at your earliest convenience and uploaded to their database profile. Here is a link with the information you need.
Annual Reviews
Annual reviews this year will be held between June and August. We are in the process of reviewing the questions and will share in May some more information about the process of annual reviews and how best to approach them to enable them to be an encouraging and helpful conversation for you and your team - watch this space!
